rob olins

Based in London and the West Country, Rob Olins works using a wide range of materials to create artwork that is informed by architecture, materials and landscape. Working as primarily on installations and to commission as well as regularly exhibiting in the UK and abroad, Olins has built up a considerable and varied Portfolio.

He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of British Sculptors and his work can be seen regularly in London by the New Academy Gallery.

Some Recent Work
Recently completed at Swansea Promenade Wales are two 6m high Acoustic Mirrors set in a 200m walkway linked by lighting and texture paths set into the ground will engage the viewer with naturally amplified sea sounds. His involvement
with this project will continue into 2009 with an exhibition on acoustic artworks at the Mission Gallery Swansea in 2010


At Truro Health Park in Cornwall he is the lead artist and on the research team analysing and instigating where the range of art interventions, landscape design, way finding systems and flexible environments are to be introduced The new health centres construction began in in late 2007. In early May 2008 three artists joined the team to develop detailed work on the interior and gardens. Rob Olins will continue as act as the lead artist ensuring that the Building, Artworks and Landscape present a coherent design. The building and Artworks are due for completion by May 2010

As part of Maidstone's Elemental, Walk of Art Project Olins has just installed a 18.5m high spire that uses powerful LED lights that give different effects according the to wind speed.
